Choices, Choices

At school today, many of us laughed about how we all - teachers and students - wished for "just one more day" or winter break. Alas, I was back with children, reading about the Godolphin Arabian, the mountain gorillas met by the Lewins, and the penguins trained to perform by the Popper family. Now, it is time to settle in stillness (my word for the day) and savor a book...or two. I keep reading some of each of these two because both have been on my reserve list for a while. Choices like these are welcome after a day of work.

  1. Ahh, I am sneaking off to a warm corner to read Barbara Kingsolver's newest . . . still, quiet, warm, reading. Ahh.

  2. It is amazing how these dark, chilly days make the mind zero in on two things: books and coziness!

  3. Strayed is an interesting woman with an unusual journey that she records and then publishes. Tell me how you like it.

  5. Just read GORILLA WALK by the Lewins and loved it. Such a great story, and wonderful illustrations, alternatingly amusing and profound. Thanks for recommending!

  6. I knew all of you would either have read or plan to read these books. I am giving myself equal time with each one these nights. Reading WILD aloud would be a challenge for me. She sometimes says things I do not speak.
